Start another Jesus Revolution!
Birth of the 1960s Revolution
The Jesus Movement led by Pastor Chuck Smith and the “hippie preacher” Lonnie Frisbee broke barriers and sparked one of the greatest revivals of the 20th century.
Smith opened his doors to barefoot hippies and told his conservative congregation,
“If you don’t like it, the door swings both ways.”
Revival was unleashed.
They didn’t just start a revolution; it birthed modern worship. The hippies brought passion and guitar-led songs of love for Jesus, transforming how an entire generation worshiped.
The Forgotten Story
Yet an important part of that story was buried.
Lonnie battled AIDS and was largely forgotten by those he once inspired.
Though chosen and anointed by God, Lonnie was placed in the hall of shame by the very Church he helped build.
Today, Lonnie’s life stands as a sobering reminder of the Church’s need to change the narrative that excludes anyone from the Body of Christ.
God calls and gifts LGBTQ+ people to serve, to lead, and to bring others to salvation.
Stop the Pharisee Revolution!
It’s time to end the Pharisee Revolution! The one that guards the rules and forgets to represent Jesus.
A new movement is rising – where inclusion is not compromise, but obedience to Jesus’ and His command to invite everyone.
Open the doors.
That’s the revolution Jesus started and the one we’re called to continue.
